Frequently Asked Questions
Answer: Currently Offline
CJS DJS allows you to book a DJ online once you check your date availability and get your quote. A contract is ultimately required to confirm and reserve your event date, but booking online can be done.
Answer: YES.
CJS DJS has an online music database where you can create your love it, like it and a do not play list. Simply go to the menu item music playlist from your open items links on the left side of your dashboard. The database is large, but if you do not see a song in the database, that does not mean I don’t have it. Chances are that the title has not been updated in the servers. In this case, just enter that song title manually (at the bottom of the search page) and I will have it at your event. I will have your song 99% of the time in the database.
Answer: YES
I really try to separate myself from other DJ services. I allow you to plan your entire event online. Simply select one of your planning forms, timelines, or music playlist from the left side of your dashboard.
Answer: YES. (Only if you allow it)
Your guests can log in to your party details and requests songs. All you have to do is give them your unique link and the guest password and have them login. It’s that simple.
Answer: YES.
I have my website set-up this way to make your planning and music requests more convenient. Sometimes I have clients who want assistance in doing so and/or they want CJS DJS to sprinkle magic on their event planning and make everything happen. I can help you, that’s what I am here for.
Answer: YES.
I insist it! Each client should meet their DJ (who is me ) before any contract is signed. This way, I can develop a strong connection with you the client and this will help the me cater to your parties needs.
Answer: NO.
Sometimes there may be a charge for really BIG events where it may take many hours to set up extra lights and equipment. But 99% of the Events will NOT have a set-up fee.
Answer:
For most events like Weddings and Holiday parties, the Set-up is only two (2) hours or less. Sometimes it will take a little more time depending on the access and/or location of the set-up. This time is based on groups of up to 300 people. For very large events where more equipment (lighting, speaker and cables) is required, more time is required.
Answer:
A nice suit coat and dress shirt is standard for weddings and formals(A tie can be requested for your event). Sometimes, at the client’s request, special “theme costumes” are appropriate. Other times, the attire is more casual to fit the type of event. Feel free to request that the DJ wear the appropriate attire to your event.
Answer:
You can select all the music for the DJ to play if you wish, however, I am very experienced and knowledgeable in many different areas of music. I have learned what people like to dance to, crowd climate, and what’s appropriate versus inappropriate. My expertise in this area can be very helpful. The ultimate choice is up to the client.
Answer: YES
Overtime is always available. There is a $75.00 (cash or credit paid before overtime) charge for each additional ½ hour. When you are contracted, I make sure you choose an accurate package that suits your party’s needs, but overtime is always available just in case the party goes overtime.
Answer:
It’s your party! I will play my role and listen to your needs. I work for you and am under your control. I will accommodate all your requests if possible. This is part of the information I collect from the client during the event planning stages.
Answer:
As with all event planning, the sooner, the better. Most popular dates book early, and in some cases this can be up to one year in advance. Book early to get the date you want. Waiting till the last minute may be disappointing.
Answer: YES! (If you choose to)
As long as the guest selection is within the music type that you specified, I will play the song. Sometimes there are songs that clients DO NOT want played, and guests have a way of asking for those songs. I will respect my clients wishes and NOT play those songs. These arrangements can be made during booking or online through the music database.
Answer: NO.
My policy is that I would rather have you asked me to turn the music up rather than turning it down. The volume of background music will keep to a comfortable level, so the guests can converse easily without shouting over the music. When it is time for dancing, the music level will increase to the appropriate level for dancing. My sound systems can accommodate large or small venues. Communicate with me and let me know if the music is too loud or too low. I’ll create the setting you are looking for!
Answer:
I am very flexible in these matters and will make any adjustment to the starting time as long as it will not interfere with other commitments. I understand that as the event planning progresses, things change.
Answer:
Your event is just as important to me as it is to you. CJ’S DJ’S has NEVER MISSED AN EVENT in all the years I’ve been DJing. But just in case…we keep one DJ in “standby mode” for emergencies. I also have access to over 35 local DJ’s in my network just in case I need them!
Answer:
All events performed by CJS DJS require a signed contract from the client along with a Deposit. This will ensure your event date is reserved. EVENTS CANNOT BE RESERVED WITHOUT A CONTRACT. A contract can be emailed, mailed, or signed in person.
Answer:
I will be happy to play any music that you bring. Any music brought by guests must fit within the limits described by you. However, with CJS DJS proper planning, I believe it is my responsibility to already have the requested music. The client is paying CJS DJS to supply the music. In some rare cases, there are specific songs that may be rare and cannot be found. These are instances where I would be happy if you let us borrow the music from you.
Answer:
Cancellations are handled in two ways. If the event is canceled within 30 days of the event, you will forfeit your deposit payment. If canceled more than 30 days, your deposit payment will be returned. If circumstances arise that require you to postpone your event, CJS DJS will honor your contract with the new date if it is possible. If the date is already taken, then we will attempt to help you locate another qualified DJ.
Answer:
The balance for the contract is due two(2) weeks before the event. Sometimes the client may feel more comfortable making the payment even earlier, which is also acceptable.
Answer: NO
Clients are paying for us to provide an unhindered event. Uninvited guests are not allowed.

Answer: NO
I have no scheduled breaks during the show. However, there may be a short period where there is another activity where I will not be required to play music. Sometimes there may be other entertainment or the client may schedule a pause for the music. In that case, I can take a short break.

I only use music that is located on a hard drive. and I keep 2 extra drives as backup. I also carry a second laptop and a second controller to each event.
